Prof. Jason Alegro with personal protective equipment to be donated to Mt. Sinai

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a national shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE), which is essential to protect health care workers, including pharmacists. To meet this critical need, the 澳门六合开奖 College of Pharmacy donated supplies from their teaching lab to Mount Sinai Hospital on Tuesday, March 24. This donation included gloves, gowns, isopropyl alcohol and hand sanitizer.

鈥湴拿帕峡扁檚 College of Pharmacy and Sinai Health System have always had a strong partnership, and being able to support frontline health care providers in their time of need is essential,鈥 said Dr. Jason Alegro, assistant professor of clinical sciences in the College of Pharmacy and infectious diseases pharmacist at Mount Sinai Hospital. 鈥淎s the number of COVID-19 patients we are caring for at Sinai continues to grow rapidly, it is vital to protect our patients and health care workers.鈥 

Dr. Alegro delivered the supplies to Dr. Matt Dandino, pharmacy operations manager at Mount Sinai Hospital. A second delivery of supplies will be made later this week. 鈥淭he supplies provided by the College of Pharmacy gives us some peace of mind that as we fight this pandemic, not only by having to worry less about supplies that prevent the spread of infection, but also knowing we have the support of one of our strongest partners,鈥 said Dr. Alegro. 鈥淲e encourage anyone who has extra supplies (masks, gowns, gloves, hand sanitizer, etc.) to please consider donating to your local hospital and to follow CDC recommendations for handwashing and physical distancing to help us fight back against this virus.鈥
